The Clapping Oak is a proud sponsor of Dinners and Dragons LLC and The Rended Wall TTRPG by Paul Willis.
Something magical can happen around the table when friends, family, or colleagues share a meal and a story. Dinners and Dragons creates just such an opportunity. A personal chef prepares a luscious meal in your own home, then leads you all in a table-top adventure. Choose in advance from a menu of fantasy-themed dishes, a menu of characters, and a menu of adventures.
I started playing D&D a couple of years ago because I felt a need to play more in a way that would spur my creativity. Both things have happened. It’s like improv – or choose-your-own-adventure for grown-ups.
I’ve also come to see gaming as an excellent practice field for key communication skills. It provides a risk-free setting for players to:
- practice creative problem-solving
- practice conflict resolution
- build community, both as characters and in real life
- practice listening and observation as essential to decision-making
- share a fun inter-generational activity
- take risks, fail, re-strategize, and try again
- practice collaboration utilizing diverse skills and perspectives to face a common challenge.
